The National Pavilion UAE
The National Pavilion UAE

The National Pavilion UAE curates and presents untold stories of the UAE’s arts and architecture at La Biennale di Venezia, one of the world’s most important cultural platforms. Since 2009, it has spotlighted the nation’s evolving cultural landscape—from experimental 20th-century artists to contemporary innovations—through high-profile exhibitions and publications that contribute to global discourse from a distinctly local perspective. Recognized internationally, the Pavilion’s projects include the Golden Lion–winning sustainable salt-based cement installation by architects Wael Al Awar and Kenichi Teramoto in 2021, and Nujoom Alghanem’s 2019 exploration of displacement. The Pavilion also engages the UAE’s creative community year-round via public programming and its Venice Internship, which has trained over 200 young professionals now active in the cultural sector. An independent non-profit, the Pavilion is commissioned by the Salama bint Hamdan Al Nahyan Foundation with support from the UAE Ministry of Culture.
