Tala Madani

Tala Madani (b. 1981, Tehran, Iran) creates paintings and animations that critique societal norms through imagery, humor, and metaphor. Her art features mostly naked, middle-aged men in extreme scenarios, blending slapstick with themes of violence and power. Madani combines modernist figuration with dynamic sequencing akin to cinema and cartoons. She has held solo shows at top museums globally, including in Los Angeles, Athens, Shanghai, and Tokyo, and participated in prestigious exhibitions like the Istanbul Biennial and Whitney Biennial. Her works are in major collections such as the Guggenheim, MoMA, and Tate Modern. Today Madani is based in Los Angeles.
