Studio Raw Material is a design and research studio based in the desert plains of Rajasthan, India, founded by Dushyant Bansal and Priyanka Sharma and working between objects, spaces, and culture. The practice collaborates with local artisans in Makrana to transform marble offcuts into sculptural pieces developed through slow, investigative processes that foreground vernacular techniques and rethink notions of value. Bodies of work such as Offcut and Khokhar draw on temple joinery and collaged fragments bound with masonry dust, while recent experiments extend to bamboo and hemp in dialogue with the region’s papermaking traditions. Both founders studied at the Royal College of Art, and the studio is represented by New York gallery Friedman Benda.
