Nestled along the shores of the Seto Inland Sea, Simose Art Museum is a new cultural landmark in Hiroshima that seamlessly weaves together art, architecture, and nature. Designed by Shigeru Ban, the museum introduces an innovative modular concept—movable gallery units sheltered under a vast floating roof—redefining how we encounter space and exhibitions. The museum presents a rotating program of contemporary art and design, supported by a rich ecosystem that includes a design store, a landscaped sculpture garden, and on-site villas. Rooted in the Japanese principle of harmony with nature, Simose invites slow observation and spatial intimacy as tools for deeper connection.
