Pragma is a Dubai-based design studio operating across architecture, urbanism, and research. Founded in 2014 by architects Ahmed Khadier and Abdulla Al Shamsi, the practice works at multiple scales across the MENA region and pursues a critical design approach that foregrounds sustainability, materiality, climate, social habits, and cultural identity. Guided by principles the studio frames as “Site Matters,” “Staging Landscapes,” “Poetic Functionalism,” “Resistance to Fashions,” and a “Commitment to Sustainability,” Pragma develops projects through rigorous analysis of site, program, and making. The practice is led by its founders, with Khadier holding an MArch in Urban Design from Harvard GSD and Al Shamsi trained at Columbia University and the American University of Sharjah.
