Paolo Ulian

Paolo Ulian is an Italian designer whose practice merges artistic sensibility with industrial precision. Trained first in painting at the Accademia di Belle Arti di Carrara under the mentorship of Getulio Alviani and Luciano Fabro, Ulian later obtained a degree in industrial design from I.S.I.A. Firenze in 1990. He began his professional journey working alongside Enzo Mari, one of Italy’s most influential designers, before founding his own studio in Tuscany with his brother Giuseppe. Known for his minimal yet poetic approach, Ulian has consistently explored the intersection of form, function, and material economy. His early collaborations with Driade and Bieffeplast led to international recognition, including the first Design Report Award at Salone Satellite in 2000 and the Dedalus Design Award. Over the years, he has partnered with notable institutions and brands such as Droog Design, Fontana Arte, Luminara, Zani e Zani, BBB Bonacina, Sensi&C., Coop, Azzurra Ceramiche, and Skitsch.
