Museum of Islamic Art

The Museum of Islamic Art (MIA) in Doha is Qatar Museums’ flagship institution on the Corniche, housed in an iconic waterfront building by architect I. M. Pei. Opened in 2008, it presents a world-class collection of Islamic art spanning roughly 1,400 years and three continents, and in October 2022 it reopened after an enhancement project with reimagined permanent galleries. The complex sits on a purpose-built island linked to MIA Park, where Richard Serra’s sculpture “7” anchors the waterfront, and the museum’s galleries and display design were developed in collaboration with Wilmotte & Associés.
