Majd Abdel Hamid

Majd Abdel Hamid (b. 1988, Damascus) is a Palestinian visual artist currently based between Beirut and Ramallah. A graduate of Malmö Art Academy, Sweden (2010), and the International Academy of Art in Palestine (2007–2009), his multidisciplinary practice spans video, installation, drawing, and textile-based work. Abdel Hamid is best known for his intricate embroideries, developed through slow, repetitive gestures that counter the rapidity of digital image culture. His use of modest materials and self-taught techniques results in delicate, abstract pieces that often reflect on trauma, national identity, and lived experience under occupation. Drawing on modernist art vocabularies and pixelated imagery, his stitched works are described as “sculptures in time”—vulnerable, imperfect records of endurance and reflection.
