Kiasmos, formed in 2009, is a Faroese-Icelandic electronic duo consisting of composer Ólafur Arnalds and musician Janus Rasmussen. Known for blending minimal techno with ambient and classical elements, the duo creates emotive soundscapes that bridge genres. Arnalds, an acclaimed Icelandic composer, brings cinematic piano and string arrangements, while Rasmussen, from the Faroe Islands, adds his expertise in electronic music through his work with Bloodgroup. Their 2014 self-titled debut album on Erased Tapes Records garnered critical acclaim, followed by the EPs Swept (2015) and Blurred (2017), which refined their sound. After a hiatus, Kiasmos announced their second album, II (2024), showcasing a deeper exploration of acoustic textures and atmospheric ambience.
