India Mahdavi (b. 1962, Tehran) is a renowned architect and designer, known for her vibrant, eclectic approach to design. Since opening her studio in 2000, Mahdavi has created a distinctive aesthetic that blends bold colors, playful elements, and craftsmanship. In 2003, she launched her first furniture collection, marking the start of her signature style. Her projects include iconic spaces like the Hotel du Cloître in Arles, Monte Carlo Beach Hotel, the Gallery at Sketch in London, and Ladurée in Los Angeles and Tokyo. Mahdavi’s work combines oriental pop with contemporary Western influences. Her design philosophy is rooted in a deep understanding of each space’s context and human scale. Her studio focuses on custom pieces, limited editions, and collaborations, blending traditional techniques with modern design. In addition to her studio, Mahdavi opened a boutique in 2011 at 19 rue Las Cases, offering a curated selection of objects, and expanded in 2020 with a new space at 29 rue de Bellechasse, further showcasing her commitment to craftsmanship and design innovation.
