Bint Mbareh

Bint Mbareh is a sound researcher whose practice explores the resonant intersections of water, sound, and decolonial memory in Palestine. Her work draws on the physical parallels between sound waves and water waves to dissolve boundaries—between bodies, states, and temporalities—and to reimagine how knowledge circulates in communal and immersive ways. With a focus on Palestinian ways of knowing, Mbareh engages rain-summoning music, shrine pilgrimages, and other ancestral practices as sites of both sonic intimacy and political resistance. Her work challenges settler colonial epistemologies by treating sound not merely as a medium, but as a method of collective remembrance and an instrument of embodied defiance.
