Barjeel Art Foundation

Barjeel Art Foundation is an independent, Sharjah-based non-profit arts organization established in 2010 by Sultan Sooud Al Qassemi to manage, preserve, and exhibit his collection of modern and contemporary Arab art. Centered on widening public access and scholarship around the region’s art, Barjeel organizes and lends exhibitions internationally and maintains a long-term display of its collection at the Sharjah Art Museum; notable collaborations include Whitechapel Gallery’s four-part “Imperfect Chronology” in London and the 2023 presentation “Kawkaba: Highlights from the Barjeel Art Foundation” at Christie’s in London. The foundation operates from the United Arab Emirates with a curatorial team that includes curator Suheyla Takesh.
