Ensamble Studio is a cross-functional architecture practice founded in 2000 by Antón García-Abril and Débora Mesa. Based between Madrid and Boston, the studio operates at the intersection of architecture, art, science, and engineering, known for its bold experiments with materials, construction processes, and landscape. Ensamble Studio redefines the boundaries of architecture by treating design and building as inseparable. Their projects often combine advanced structural research with raw material expression, ranging from monumental land-art installations to radical homes and public buildings. Notable works like Hemeroscopium House, Structures of Landscape, and Ca’n Terra exemplify their commitment to process-based architecture—where form emerges through the act of making. In parallel with their built work, García-Abril and Mesa co-founded the Office for Political Innovation and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology's POPlab, reinforcing their dedication to research, pedagogy, and architectural experimentation.
