Syn Architects

Syn architects is a Riyadh-based architecture practice founded by Saudi architects Sara Alissa and Nojoud Alsudairi. Rooted in an ecologically sensitive design ethos, the studio’s approach is grounded in material honesty, contextual responsiveness, and a deep engagement with nature. Their work merges vernacular sensibilities with contemporary needs, drawing on the textures and narratives of local landscapes to craft architecture that is both adaptive and inclusive. Syn’s projects emphasize materiality, accessibility, and communal experience, seeking to reimagine architectural processes in ways that encourage environmental awareness and social connection. Parallel to their practice, Alissa and Alsudairi co-founded the Um Slaim Collective, a critical initiative examining the displacement of traditional Najdi architecture in central Riyadh. They also established saudirchitecture.org, an independent platform dedicated to researching and archiving Saudi Arabia’s modernist and postmodernist architectural heritage.
