Polly Staple, appointed as Tate's Director of Collection for British Art in January 2020, is set to lead the development of the world's foremost collection of British art from 1500 to the present. Staple brings a wealth of experience to Tate Britain, where she will work under the guidance of the gallery's Director, Alex Farquharson, and alongside international collection director Gregor Muir. Formerly the Director of Chisenhale Gallery and Frieze Projects, Staple has a track record of fostering groundbreaking work by a new generation of British artists. Her leadership is anticipated to further diversify and expand Tate’s already prestigious collection.
