Michael Sailstorfer

Michael Sailstorfer, a Berlin-based contemporary sculptor, redefines traditional sculptural forms by integrating elements of sound, movement, and time. Born in Velden, he was immersed in an environment of craftsmanship and art from a young age, which paved the way for his experimental artistic expressions. Educated at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich and Goldsmiths, University of London, Sailstorfer’s work challenges perceptions of material and space. Notable works include "Zeit ist keine Autobahn," where a spinning tire on a wall symbolizes time's passage, and "Forst," an installation of upside-down trees that explores the interplay between nature and mechanical forces. His thought-provoking installations are featured in major international exhibitions and collections, including the Centre Pompidou and the Städel Museum. Sailstorfer’s continual push beyond the boundaries of conventional sculpture marks him as a significant figure in contemporary art.
