Fontaines D.C.

Fontaines D.C. emerged from Dublin's vibrant cultural landscape in 2014, formed by Grian Chatten on vocals, guitarists Carlos O’Connell and Conor Curley, bassist Conor Deegan III, and drummer Tom Coll. The quintet, united by their shared passion for poetry during their time at music college, began their journey in Ireland's bustling live music scene, self-releasing singles that caught the attention of Partisan Records in 2018. Their debut album, Dogrel, released on April 12, 2019, earned universal praise, swiftly catapulting them to the forefront of the post-punk revival. Celebrated by Rough Trade as Album of the Year and by BBC Radio 6 Music’s presenters, Dogrel also secured nominations for prestigious awards like the Mercury Prize and the Choice Music Prize, affirming the band’s significant impact. A Hero's Death, Fontaines D.C.’s sophomore effort, arrived in 2020 amidst a grueling tour schedule. The album’s gritty narratives and introspective lyrics garnered a Grammy nomination for Best Rock Album, underscoring their rising profile on the international stage. Their third offering, Skinty Fia, released in 2022, marked a milestone as it soared to the top of both the UK and Irish Albums Charts. Each record by Fontaines D.C. not only charts their evolution but also cements their status as critical darlings in the rock music scene. Their newest album, ROMANCE was released in August 2024.
