Zahrah Al Ghamdi (b. 1977, Al Bahah, Saudi Arabia) is a contemporary artist and academic whose work explores memory, architecture, and identity through large-scale, site-specific installations. Raised in the mountainous region of southwestern Saudi Arabia, Al Ghamdi draws from the textures, materials, and heritage of her homeland, incorporating earth, clay, leather, and domestic objects into poetic assemblages that evoke embodied memory and the ephemeral traces of history. She holds an MA and PhD in Visual Art from Coventry University, UK, and a BA in Islamic Arts from King Abdulaziz University, Jeddah. She currently serves as Associate Professor at the University of Jeddah’s College of Art and Design. Her practice centers on traditional Saudi architecture and craft as a means to reframe the female experience and reclaim overlooked narratives within material culture.
