Balqis AlRashed

Balqis Alrashed (b. Riyadh) is a multidisciplinary artist whose practice navigates alienation, embodiment, and the politics of space. Raised in Beirut and currently based in Riyadh, her work explores the intersection of power and perception through installations, video, and public interventions. Drawing on personal experience and a broader critique of societal structures, Alrashed uses the body—her own and that of the viewer—as a primary material, staging disruptions that articulate what resists verbal expression. Her evolving practice has shifted from performative gestures to a more conceptual focus on myth, iconography, and spatial dynamics. A past participant in international residencies including the Delfina Foundation, Berlin Art Institute, and Sharjah Art Foundation, Alrashed continues to develop a distinctive language that bridges personal inquiry with collective narratives.
