

Asma Belhamar (born 1988, Dubai) is a Dubai-based interdisciplinary artist and Assistant Professor at Zayed University whose practice explores the phenomenon of the megastructure in the Emirates and its impact on the topographical memory of local landscapes. Working across installation, experimental print, video, and 3D modeling, she synthesizes architectural and organic elements to build hybrid spaces that engage with temporality and spatial memory. She holds a BA in Visual Arts from Zayed University (2012) and an MFA in Textile Design from the Rhode Island School of Design (2017), completed the Salama bint Hamdan Emerging Artists Fellowship in 2014, and undertook residencies with the March Project at Sharjah Art Foundation and at Porthmeor Studio, St Ives (both 2019). Public commissions include Thresholds of Perception: Redefining Balcony Spaces for Alserkal Arts Foundation (2024), Union of Artists with Dubai Culture in collaboration with Art Dubai (2024), Chasing the Dance of Alfay for Public Art Abu Dhabi (2023), Distorted Familiarities for Expo 2020 Dubai (2021), and The Edifice of Sba at Sharjah Art Foundation (2019); her solo exhibition Solid Void was presented at 421, Abu Dhabi (2023), alongside group exhibitions such as Sharjah Biennial 15 and Evaporating Suns in Basel (2023).
