Antoine Deeb is a Syrian artist based in Sharjah, UAE. He graduated from the Faculty of Fine Arts at Latakia University in 2020. Deeb’s artistic practice, rooted in his daily life and immediate surroundings, often revolves around the routines, rituals, and objects that make up his personal environment, such as his bed or his face. His work, primarily created in acrylic on canvas, features muted colors that evoke fragility and melancholy. Deeb’s introspective nature influences his art, with his process involving repetitive sketching to explore new emotional responses. He finds beauty in the mundane, aiming to reflect personal feelings rather than general themes or external inspiration. His influences include the Impressionist masters and the Iraqi artist Dia Azzawi. Deeb’s work often explores issues of identity, especially as he navigates the balance between his Syrian origins and life in Sharjah. Despite his curiosity for the world, Deeb feels most at home in his studio, where he strives to make art that is deeply personal and natural.
