Studio Anne Holtrop is an internationally recognized architectural practice founded by Dutch architect Anne Holtrop. Known for a conceptual and material-driven approach, the studio explores the boundaries between form, materiality, and spatial experience. Each project arises from a deep engagement with the physical properties of materials, often allowing process and intuition to guide form-making rather than predefined function. Operating between architecture, installation, and art, Studio Anne Holtrop has developed a diverse portfolio that includes museums, cultural institutions, and temporary pavilions. Notable projects include the Bahrain Pavilion at Expo 2015, the Sheikh Isa Bin Ali Al-Khalifa Museum in Bahrain, and the Trail House, all of which reflect Holtrop’s sensitivity to context, history, and craftsmanship. The studio works from its bases in Amsterdam and Muharraq, Bahrain, with an architectural language that resists rigid definitions and invites interpretation, offering poetic, site-specific, and deeply tactile spatial experiences.
